Jason Carnes Berm Academy Edit

Some of the best memories BMXers have of their time in the sport are not at the track. They are made on the road trips we take, the places we stop along the way, and the people we meet.

The race is the headline event, for sure, but we guarantee that you’ll remember meeting Fred Gwynne (aka Herman Munster), or seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time, or even a flat tire at 2AM on your way back from the Grands as much, or more, than how you did at the race.

Earlier this year, former Redline Team Manager, Jason Carnes has been giving BMXers the best tour experience in the world via his “Berm Academy” program. All in a custom motor coach, with one of the most factory of pit areas at the races.

Sounds amazing, right? Well, it should, because it is.

Berm Academy is out with a new edit, produced by friend-of-News, Brett Rohlfing, showing some of the “life on the road” moments, with words from the man-himself on how the tour experience he creates will be one of those life-long memories you’ll talk about for years to come.

Check it!

The Berm Academy website (link below) has quite a few pre-set tours but, just-today, Carnesie is rolling out a new way to roll with him: a “build your own” tour option, where you can pick the start and end dates, and meet-up with the ongoing tour, already in progress, for an incredibly-reasonable $100 per day, which includes road transportation and the kind of personally-cooked meals you got a glimpse of in the video (um…we’ll take cheese on ours, JC!).

So, get about it, and hit the road with Berm Academy this Summer.

Berm Academy “Coast to Coast” Edit

Berm Academy Coast to Coast Edit
Jason Carnes is out with a sweet edit documenting the Berm Academy “Coast to Coast Extravaganza” tour that happened last month. If you’re unfamiliar, Berm Academy is a unique BMX experience that puts you on the road with the man who knows the BMX Road life best: Jason Carnes.

You join the tour at a given location–in the case of the Coast to Coast, it was in Los Angeles– and drive in the luxury motor coach that is the Berm Academy rig from place to place–hitting up USA BMX National stops, places of interest (in the edit we see Hollywood Boulevard, London Bridge, Meteor Crater, USA BMX HQ, Troy Lee Designs HQ, Oakley Dirt Lab, Maris Strombergs’ house and more), local tracks and whatever else looks fun along the way.

It looks like SO much fun (because it is)! Carnsie is currently at Hilltop Ranch outside of Houston, TX, getting ready for the USA BMX Lone Star Nationals next week. The “Lonestar to Dixieland” tour is about to kick off on April 19, and there are still spots available.

Check the link below for details about what’s included in that tour, and any of the other Berm Academy Tours throughout 2017.

Podcast: Jason Carnes on Berm Academy

Jason Carnes Berm Academy

Without question, the top road warrior in BMX Racing is Jason Carnes. For the past 17 years, we have seen him in the Redline pit, setting up the perfect environment for the riders under his care, and offering a place to put-down for friends who were pitless.

Whenever News showed up early for a national, we’d always see JC scrubbing the grit & grime off the Redline banners, wiping-down the bikes from the last stop, prepping them for the weekend, and generally getting the space squared-away, with almost military precision.

That was no accident, by the way, as Jason served our country in the US Army, as a Veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He then carried an exemplary level of aesthetic discipline back into his BMX career as the face and voice of Redline Bicycles in the field, both at the races, and at Redline Flight School clinics.

Jason recently marked an end to his career in the Redline rig, and has launched a BMX startup like no other.

Jason Carnes’ Berm Academy offers a series of full-immersion BMX tours which allow riders 14-over to get the real-deal BMX road trip experience, directly from the guy who has been on the road longer than some of them have been alive.

News sat down with Jason to bring you a podcast that sets the scene for how Berm Academy works, and how you can be part of this unique experience for one week, or a full month of BMX life on the road.

There’s no doubt that the road trips we take hold the best of all memories of our time in BMX. I, myself, wrote an article in the BMXer, back in 2008, talking about the very-thing that Jason is now offering to a new generation of BMXers (link below). So, who’s “in?”
