2018 Asian Games BMX

The 2018 Asian Games BMX events wrapped up this-past weekend in Jakarta, Indonesia. BMX was featured as one of the centerpiece events at the games, and a grandstand full of fans cheered at max volume as the main events headed off the hill (in fact, you may want to mute your sound, because it is LOUD, and you can’t hear the announcer anyway).

Women’s Final

Women’s Results
Yaru Zhang (CHN)
Chutikan Kitwanitsathian (THA)
Wiji Lestari (INA)

Chamvee Kerdmanee (THA)
Sienna Fines (PHI)
Cupi Nopianti (INA)
Yan Lu (CHN)
Sae Hatakeyama (JPN)

Men’s Final

Men’s Results
Yoshitaku Nagasako (JPN)
Gusti Bagus Saputra (IND)
Danny Caluag (PHI)

Yue Sun (CHN)
Toni Syarifudin(INA)
Jukia Yoshimura (JPN)
Sittichok Kaewsrikhao (THA)
Xiaogang Li (CHN)

Both finals showed great racing, but that women’s final was definitely an exciting lap. We’re sorry for Sae Hatakeyama, who was leading, but laid it down in turn one.

And we have to give a big BMX News shout-out to our friend, Danny Caluag who, at 31 years, was racing his second Asian Games, for the Philippines. He won the Gold in 2014, and hit the podium this go-round, with the bronze. Danny C was also ABA #1 pro in 2007 and Pro Cruiser Champion in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
